Friday Five

June 10, 2011

I’ve seen several bloggers doing some variation of a list of 5 things on Friday. Since I’ve been quite busy and I can’t put together a post of substance, I figured I’d give this a go.

Five Songs I Bought on iTunes Today

1. Jana Kramer – Why You Wanna

2. Nicki Minaj – Super Bass

3. Natasha Beddingfield – Little Too Much

4. Jason Aldean – Dirt Road Anthem

5. Paramore – Monster

Daily Question: What other songs should I check out?

June 8, 2011

I can’t believe it’s been 4 days since my last post.

I need to create a schedule and stick with it, but unfortunately things have been really hectic around here.

So in the meantime, I’ll leave you with this video. It’s so stinkin’ cute!

June 3, 2011

It’s Friday!

I woke up to a text from my father regarding his release from the hospital. I thought it’d be a good day, but we’ll get to that later.

Breakfast was boring. My morning was boring. I honestly cannot remember what I did.

Lunch was boring as well. Peanut butter on a potato roll. But the strawberries were fantastic!

From 2-6 my mom, sister, and I spent time getting the house in order for my dad’s arrival.

At one point I went outside to check on our carpenter bee (or what I suspected to be a carpenter bee) problem. The other night we sprayed bee killer inside a whole on our deck, where we knew something was living. Well turns out it was a carpenter bee! And we successfully killed it!

See the dead bee in there? Mwhahaha

At 6ish the guy from the medical supply company came and dropped of my dad’s supplies.

A whole lot of supplies!

The next 2 hours were chaos. We were supposed to pick up my dad, but we were waiting on nurses to come to the house first. But then we find out that my dad should be home before they come.

So after many calls back and forth to an awesome nurse we finally got things straightened out.

We pick my dad up tomorrow. The nurses will be coming tomorrow after he’s home.

No doubt tomorrow will be equally as stressful as today. If not more. We have to figure out a permanent place for my dad to be at. Looks like I might have to pack up my room and move upstairs, which means a bunch of switching needs to get done.

Guess I know what I’ll be doing all weekend.

ice cream

I ended the night with some ice cream again! I just couldn’t resist.

Daily Question: How do you remedy boring meals, without buying a million different options?

I try to have some variety on hand, but with my small budget, I’m often eating the same thing over and over again. It’s a problem.

I Love Sprinkles

June 2, 2011

Today was a pretty uneventful day. I woke up at 7:30, had breakfast, then played around on the computer for awhile. I started getting really sleepy so I went back to bed for awhile.

Before I knew it, it was lunchtime, so I went to the kitchen to see what I could scrounge up.

Cucumbers + hard boiled eggs + southwest marinated chicken + cheddar = one amazing salad.

At some point after lunch I managed to get this blog up.

My finger also decided to develop a strange bump. The bump got bigger than what is in the picture, but it has already shrunken. Weird…

At around 3ish, my sister and I made a trip to Target.

I bought another dress. After years of not wearing dresses, my collection is growing quite fast.

I also picked up some athletic shorts. Now I can go for walks and not die of heat in pants.

After dinner my mom, sister, and I went to visit my dad in the hospital.

When we got back I scooped myself some ice cream. French Vanilla with sprinkles!

Gotta love sprinkles!

And now I’m relaxing for the night.

Daily Question: As a little girl (assuming you are female), did you like to wear dresses? What about now?

I used to hate wearing dresses growing up. But after wearing one last year (for the first time in years), I’ve come to realize just how comfortable they are.

Look at what I caught lounging about on my deck!

Aren’t they adorable?!

Book Review: Something Borrowed

May 17, 2011

Once I saw the movie trailer, I knew I would love this book. I proceeded to look it up online at and half and hour and $50 later, I had ordered a truck load of books, including Something Borrowed.

From the back cover:

Rachel White is the consummate good girl. A hard-working attorney at a large Manhattan law firm and a diligent maid of honor to her charmed best friend Darcy, Rachel has always played by all the rules. Since grade school, she has watched Darcy shine, quietly accepting the sidekick role in their lopsided friendship. But that suddenly changes the night of her thirtieth birthday when Rachel finally confesses her feelings to Darcy’s fiancé, and is both horrified and thrilled to discover that he feels the same way. As the wedding date draws near, events spiral out of control, and Rachel knows she must make a choice between her heart and conscience. In so doing, she discovers that the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren’t always neat, and sometimes you have to risk everything to be true to yourself.

I absolutely loved the book! In fact, I loved it so much that I read it in one day! I just couldn’t put it down. It was an easy, fast read. It would be perfect for a day at the beach. Or maybe even just a rainy day inside. Either way, I highly recommend it. I’m planning on getting the rest of Emily Giffin’s books in (hopefully) the near future.

I cannot wait to see the movie and see how they adapted it. I have a feeling the movie will be a favorite of mine.

Has anyone else read Something Borrowed or saw the movie? What did you think?

Gravity Happens

May 17, 2011

I have to fill you in on an album that came out today.

The album is Gravity Happens and the artist is Kate Voegele. Some of you may know her as Mia on One Tree Hill. If that’s the case then you already know how amazing she is.

If not, then that’s why I’m here. Gravity Happens is Kate’s 3rd album and it’s amazing! I absolutely loved her first two albums, so when I heard that her 3rd was coming out I was ecstatic!

I’ve been a fan since 2008, when I randomly came across her album on iTunes. She never disappoints! Go buy her album! You won’t be sorry!
